Living in Lagos
Lagos works as a year-round town rather than a summer resort, and that is what most buyers are really paying for. The old walled centre keeps its restaurants and services open through the winter, the marina brings a permanent international crowd, and the schools, health centre and supermarkets are all inside the town rather than a drive away.
Meia Praia is the flat, four-kilometre beach side of town — apartments, easy access, and the closest thing Lagos has to a promenade. Porto de Mós sits at the other end, under the cliffs, and trades walkability for space and sea views. Praia da Luz and Luz, ten minutes west, have long been the choice of British and Dutch families who want a village rather than a town. Bensafrim, inland, is where the land is: quintas, ruins to rebuild, and the budgets that come with them.
On the market itself: western Algarve stock is tighter than the central strip, and the best-located villas rarely stay available long enough to advertise widely. If your criteria are firm, tell us early — a good proportion of what we sell in Lagos is matched to a buyer before it is published.
