The Algarve region is known by many reasons, such as excellent golf resorts and welcoming local atmospheres, but, above all, for its mild temperate climate, gastronomy and beautiful landscapes. It is considered one of the most stunning coastal areas in the world, with over 130 stunning beaches along its coastline.

With summer just around the corner, here is our top 5 hidden beaches across the Algarve for a private escape, that you won’t want to miss during your stay:

Praia da Salgadeira, CarvoeiroPraia dos Pinheiros
An imposing cliff covers Salgadeira Beach and its access is typically by sea, during low tide, which keeps it a hidden treasure from the general public. This beach is located in a south-facing cove where there are several stunning rock formations and a small cave.

Praia do Submarino, Alvor
Submarino Beach is hidden between cliffs, with a small stretch of sand that, once again, is only accessible when the tide is low. The rock formations here are incredible and to get to the main part of the beach you have to cross an opening in the cliff.

Praia dos Pinheiros, Lagos
Located between Praia do Camilo and Ponta da Piedade, Pinheiros Beach has a small shell-shaped beach that many people don't know about due to its access via an unmarked trail. Since it's sheltered by cliffs, there's usually no wind and the water is calm and crystal clear.

Praia das Furnas, Vila do BispoPraia da Murração
Across an uneven dirt road you will find Furnas Beach, a relatively unknown beach that lies between two imposing cliffs. It is secluded and peaceful, and so remote that it doesn't catch cell phone signal, making it the perfect place for a relaxing day away from the crowds.

Praia da Murração, Vila do Bispo
Muração Beach, despite having one of the most beautiful landscapes in the Algarve, where the vegetation extends practically all the way to the sea, it is not frequented by a lot of people due to its access through a dirt road with loose stones and some complicated sections.

In addition to these beaches, there are many more to discover throughout the Algarve, some better known than others, but each with its own unique landscape characteristics overlooking the glorious blue sea that bathes the Algarve coast, ensuring that we have beaches for all tastes and preferences.
